MDE-Multiple Document Environment
In previous versions of Design Kit you could only open one
drawing at a time, but with 2010 you can open multiple drawings
at the same time without significantly degrading system performance.
With multiple drawings open at the same time, you can compare
different drawings and easily copy objects from drawing to another.
To Open and Manage Multiple Drawings:
- Pick File | Open to open each drawing you want to
view
- To toggle between different drawings, press the CTRL+TAB
keys
- To tile multiple drawings, pick Window | Tile Vertically
or Window | Tile Horizontally
- When saving multiple drawings it is very important that you
do not save one drawing on top of another. Make sure you know
which is the active drawing when you save. The active drawing
usually has a blue band at the top.
- To turn MDE off- Pick Manager | Misc Settings. Look
for the SDI variable. Set this variable to 1.
To Copy Objects to another Drawing:
- Open both drawings.
- Select the source object to copy
- Pick Edit | Copy or CTRL+C to copy the object.
- Select the new drawing
- Pick Edit | Paste or CTRL+V to paste the object
into the new drawing. Left-Click to select the insertion point.
